Week 2 Task:
Tsunamis

Volcanoes
Bush fires
Earthquakes
Typhoons
Tidal Waves
Cyclones
blizzard
tornado
hurricanes
lighting

Week 4 Task:

Earthqakes are measured by some thing called the Mercalli scale and it was made by Guiseppe Mercalli which was made in 1902.
These are the levels of danger!

I
Only felt by instruments.
VII
Most people run outdoors. Damage to weakly constructed buildings. Felt by people in moving vehicles.

II
Felt by people at rest, especially on upper floors. Suspended objects may swing.
VIII
Considerable damage to most buildings. Heavy furniture overturned. Some sand fluidised.
III
Felt indoors. Vibrations like passing traffic.
IX
Even well-designed and sturdy buildings badly damaged, moved from their foundations. Ground cracks. Pipes break.
IV
Many people feel it indoors, a few outdoors. Crockery and windows rattle. Standing cars rock. Some sleepers awake.
X
Most masonry destroyed. Landslides occur. Water slops from reservoirs and lakes. Railway lines bend.
V
Felt by nearly everyone. Tall objects rock. Plaster cracks.
XI
Few structures remain upright. Bridges fall. Extensive fissures in the ground. Underground pipes totally out of action.
VI
Most people run outdoors. Damage to weakly constructed buildings. Felt by people in moving vehicles.
XII
Total destruction. Ground thrown into waves. Objects flung into the air. You would be lucky to survive this one.

Week 5
The five layers of the earth (+ Lithosphere):

Lithosphere:
The topmost layer is called the lithosphere that is comprised of the crust and solid portion of the upper mantle.
Crust:
The Crust is an inconsistent thickness being 35-70 km in the continents and 510 km on the ocean base. It is mostly composed of alumino-silicates.
Mantle:
The mantle is mainly made up of Ferro-magnesium silicates. The mantle is 2900 km thick so it is divided into 2 different layers called the upper mantle and the lower mantle. This is where most of the heat for the earth is located. There are lots of convective cells that circulate the heat.
Outer core:
The liquid outer core is 2300 km thick. The outer core is mostly made up of nickel iron ally. The earth’s magnetic field is believed to be controlled by the liquid outer core
Inner Core:
It is 1200 km thick. The inner core of the Earth, its innermost hottest part of the earth, it is a solid sphere, only about 70% that of the Moon. It consists of an iron nickel alley and may have a temperature similar to the Sun's surface.
