Week 4: How do we clarify natural disasters and how do you measure them?These days scientists are using what they call fractals to forecast, measure and clarify natural disasters. They studied the past natural disasters with fractals, such as hurricanes and earthquakes, and realised that there was a pattern. Knowing the exact size, location and timing is almost impossible but they can still forecast an almost accurate timing and place.
Week 5: what is beneath us?

Earth's layers

The earth has 5 layers, the thickest one being the outer core than the lower mantle, the inner core, the upper mantle and the thinnest one is the crust. The hottest one is the inner core which is in fact hotter than the surface of the sun! As it gets closer to the surface of the Earth, the layers get colder. Humans have never dug further than the crust.

Some of the many resources that we dig up from under the ground are: crystals, which we use for necklaces and rings and some people collect them. Also oil that we use for petrol, Fossil fuels and coal, for electricity.
Week 6: What are the atmospheric layers and how does the sun and moon affect the earth?
The atmosphere is divided into five layers. It is thickest near the surface and thins out with height until it eventually merges with space.
1) The troposphere is the first layer above the surface and contains half of the Earth's atmosphere. Weather occurs in this layer.
2) Many airplanes fly in the stratosphere because it is very stable. Also, the ozone layer absorbs harmful rays from the Sun.
3) Meteors or rock fragments catch on fire in the mesosphere.
4) The thermosphere is where the space shuttles orbit.
5) The atmosphere merges into space in the extremely thin exosphere layer. This is the upper layer of our atmosphere.

The moon has an effect on the earth in the form of tides, but it also affects the motion and orbit of the earth.Without the sun all matter of life on Earth would die. The sun provides the energy which allows life on Earth. You can also gain Vitamin D from the Sun. Without sunlight trees can't survive and without the sun life on earth would be impossible. Also the sun is slowly pulling us towards it as well as causing global warming and making Antartica melt.

Week 7: How can what is in our solar system affect us?
For starters we are always in danger from an asteroid strike and that could affect us badly. Also the chemicals sun produces allows life on earth to exist. The solar system affected us way back in time when it made the milky way and trillions of other planets including earth. Also eventually the earth is going to die when the sun implodes.
